Dear Friends

We hope you are well and keeping safe during these strange times in which we are living. Our buildings have now been closed for nearly four months and we thought it would be helpful to give you an update.

We are sure you will have heard that the Government has now announced that places of worship can re-open from 04 July, however, following a couple of Elder’s Meetings, we have decided not to re-open at Iford until September 2020. We are in the process of carrying out the required Covid-19 Risk Assessment to identify actions that will need to be taken to make the premises as safe and secure as possible. 

It is already clear that there will need to be strict safeguards that all users will be required to comply with to ensure the Church buildings remain clear of the risk of transmission of Covid-19. It also seems most likely that the impact of some form of social distancing will affect how we use our Church buildings for some time to come and this will place limits on the number of people who can use the spaces at any one time. Social distancing and the need to allow time for cleaning will also impact the times we can permit different activities to use the spaces.  Please note the kitchen will be out of use until further notice.

With this in mind we attach a copy of the Amendments to the ‘Conditions of Hiring Church Premises’ which we will need you to sign if you wish to use the premises going forward.  This highlights three changes:

  • Numbers and Room Use – only the agreed numbers and areas.
  • Public Liability Insurance – you will need to provide a copy of your certificate.
  • Cleaning – you will be expected to clean anything used before and after use – including the toilets – equipment will be provided. 

It would be good to hear what your expectations/plans are for your group from September 2020 and beyond so that we can plan the safe return of groups who wish to use our premises.

CONDITIONS OF HIRING CHURCH PREMISES

AMENDMENT TO CLAUSE 6

“The Hirer is responsible for ensuring that not more than the number of persons agreed in the Application shall be allowed in the Premises at any one time.”

Amendment:  “The Hirer is responsible for ensuring that not more than the number of persons agreed in the Application shall be allowed in the Premises at any one time.   The Hirer agrees only to use the room/hall they hire and the toilets.”

AMENDMENT TO CLAUSE 34

“The Hirer acknowledges that the Owners’ Public Liability Insurance does not extend to external hirings, that the Hirer is strongly advised to arrange their own Public Liability Insurance, and that the Owners reserve the right to insist that such insurance is arranged and a copy provided.”  

Amendment:  “The Hirer acknowledges that the Owners’ Public Liability Insurance does not extend to external hirings, that the Hirer is strongly advised to arrange their own Public Liability Insurance, and  the Owners  insist that such insurance is arranged and a copy provided.”  

AMENDMENT TO CLAUSE 40

“The Hirer must at the end of each hire session ensure that the Premises are left in a clean, orderly and smoke free state.   Failure to adequately clean the Premises and remove all rubbish arising from the hire may result in an additional charge for cleaning.”

Amendment: “The Hirer must at the end of each hire session ensure that the Premises are left in a clean, orderly and smoke free state.    Following the Covid 19 pandemic all Hirers undertake to sanitise and clean all door handles and worktops, chairs etc. and the toilets, before use and before vacating the premises. Failure to adequately clean the Premises and remove all rubbish arising from the hire may result in an additional charge for cleaning.”
